Never be everything for everybody. Find a niche (check mine: ecommerce templates) and get your place in there!

Ecommerce is a strange domain. It generates a big interest among people; everybody would like to have his or her own online store. It is a fact among people interested in internet. If you ask somebody who spends time on the internet, probably you will get a positive answer: yes, I would like/want to open an online store.
I have spoken to one of my friends about this and when explaining him one thing or another about the ecommerce website templates that I offer here, he started to get interested and told me that he would like to open such a store himself. OK, I said. He has knowledge about website design, I know that because I used to teach him some years ago and we collaborated on a few websites but never on designing e-commerce templates.
So I asked him what do you want to sell? Well, he says, I know to design website templates, so I would like to open such a store. OK then, on what niche? I realized I have already lost him. He was able to design websites, he wanted a store, but he wanted a general store, a store about everything.
I explained him that a store about everything is a store about nothing and he will probably wouldn’t sell too much, despite a presumptive good but not targeted traffic. I explained him that unless you are Amazon or EBay you should not be everything to everybody because you would not stand a chance. You should pick a niche, a small one, that give you the possibility to enter it and establish a good position.
I explained him about my e-commerce templates here, and about the fact that they are a niche, in case he didn’t notice. E-commerce web templates are a niche in this large market of web design where everybody sells themes, skins, layouts.
He understood, I think and now he offers a very interesting site on night club website templates. A good niche that I hope will prove to be right for him. In my opinion, every niche is good as long as you maintain it and develop it. The same way I try to do with my own private niche about e-commerce web templates.
