Is ecommerce based only on stores having a stock, deliveries, customer support?
|
One of the things that is very interesting but less considered by ecommerce websites is the fact that e-commerce is not only an activity specific to big stores only, very organized, with customer care, etc.
Ecommerce may be an activity that somebody is running on their blog. Yes, that is right, this can be called ecommerce: I know that some of you may say that affiliates don’t actually practice ecommerce, because they don’t actually have a stock, real merchandise, etc. OK, you may have a point, but then we should cut a lot of websites that make good money online by referring customers to bigger stores: are they making ecommerce or not?
Should be only the case with stores that have sell merchandise that they deliver? You really need a stock for this? How about people selling virtual products, like us, for example? How about us? When we sell osCommerce templates, Zen Cart templates, CRE Loaded templates, or any other ecommerce website templates related products, could we call ourselves as having an online store?
I guess we can, right? Don’t need to bother with merchandise, stocks, deliveries, etc. All we need to do is to display products or a banner of some sort that brings you money and the process is over. If it brings you money online by selling an indirect product, I dare to say that you are an online business man, owning a small business, even if all you do is to refer people to some bigger site.
Do you agree with me or not?
